DoControl raises a $30M series B round to redefine SaaS Security

I’m excited to announce that DoControl has raised a $30 million Series B round! With this, we are welcoming a new amazing partner in the journey - Insight Partners. Our existing investors, StageOne Ventures, Cardumen Capital, RTP Global, and CrowdStrike’s Falcon Fund also participated in the round and doubled down. I’m grateful for our partner’s never-ending support and belief in our mission.

The DoControl ride has been amazing. In just 22 months - we’ve now raised a total of $45M in capital, made dozens of security teams very happy, and built out a full-stack SaaS Security platform preventing data leakage on a daily basis. Our team has grown to 50 talented DoControllers who live, breath, and dream DoControl all day long.

Solving a Universal Problem

Organizations of all sizes collaborate internally and externally using company data stored in various SaaS applications (Google Drive, Sharepoint, Slack, Jira, Salesforce, & others). The problem is that these shared files usually remain shared and accessible forever, thus overexposing your company to multiple security internal and external threats and increasing the likelihood of data loss over time:

Top areas of concern that our customers faced prior to utilizing DoControl:

We are on a mission to change the way corporate data is exposed without changing how your business operates and the impact on your end-users.

The DoControl Difference

DoControl offers a rare combination of three product modules:

  1. Inventory - a comprehensive and auto-updated source of truth of your SaaS data exposure across multiple applications, users, groups, data sets, external collaborators, OAuth apps, and more. This enables quick remediation actions to remove immediate insider threats and external exposure with a few clicks.

  1. No-code SaaS automation workflows - a modern, drag-and-drop canvas experience allowing security teams to trigger automated workflows based on any SaaS events (view, share, edit, upload, etc) and condition based on any of the events metadata and more data points from your existing tech stack (HR, EDR, IDP, etc).

  1. Anomaly detection -  events-driven infrastructure alerting on various suspicious activities representing human error, potential data exfiltration, excess access by OAuth apps, and much much more. These alerts are wrapped with additional business context, risk mapping, and clear remediation paths to help security teams lower MTTD and MTTR.

DoControl only takes a few minutes to start integrating your SaaS apps, and then you can use our out-of-the-box threat model workflows to decrease your company’s SaaS security risk almost instantaneously, and you don’t need to introduce anything new into your end user’s tech stack.  For example, hook up your Google Drive or Slack, or Sharepoint instances, and set a workflow that looks for publicly accessible documents containing PII.  Set the workflow to remove the sharing. Or send a Yes/No confirmation to the owner. Simple as that.

Want to get more complex? More granular?  Go as deep as you’d like. It’s fully customizable.  Add an approval step via Slack. Send an email notification based on job title.  Only remediate if the employee is in a high risk profile group (like ‘employees departing within 2 weeks.’)

These simple efforts would normally be a huge lift for existing solutions.

What’s next?

We’ve built the foundation, and now it’s time for us to extend our product offering, solve more mission critical use cases, and modernize security tech stacks worldwide:

  1. Shout from the rooftops – It’s time to crank up the volume.  Too many companies need the protection we provide! Enterprise applications haven’t changed much over the last couple of years and modern business processes and security teams deserve systems that can move as fast as they do!
  2. Accelerate our vision – DoControl is the Data Security Platform for modern businesses. This funding will allow us to build a world-class work environment where the best and brightest minds can thrive and solve for more of the inefficiencies that the business world faces today (btw, we’re hiring!).
  3. Expand our ecosystem – From a more extensive integration portfolio to deeper product functionality and improved user experience, DoControl is continually releasing product updates committed to our mission of enabling effective teams.

Closing

‍This 22-month journey has not only met, but exceeded our initial hopes & dreams for DoControl’s potential when we first started on our mission. We’ve grown from 3 founders to 50+ dedicated, brilliant and passionate people. We wouldn’t be here if it were not for the tireless efforts of our DoControl family. Additionally, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the incredible trust, support and feedback our investors and customers have provided to us along the way. The sky is truly the limit for us at DoControl - buckle in, we’re ready for take off!
